Case Study: Dryve
Dryve is an innovative online car rental platform designed for the rideshare industry. The platform enables users to sign up, find a car, and start earning money through Uber, Lyft, or MyTaxi. Our client owns a fleet of over 150 cars, which they rent to part-time drivers
Problem Statement
The client faced several challenges with their existing fleet management system, RentCentric. They sought to develop a proprietary technology platform that would enable them to manage their fleet more efficiently, onboard new vendors, and expand their business.
Possible Solution
We conducted a six-week workshop to understand the client’s business model and identify the shortcomings of their existing system. Our goal was to design a more powerful and flexible platform than RentCentric. The outcome of the workshop was a clickable prototype and a detailed functional specification document.
We developed a multi-tenant architecture, which included:
Super Admin Web App:
The core of the system, responsible for backend processing, customer onboarding, vendor onboarding, vehicle onboarding, payment processing, and third-party integrations.
Customer Mobile App:
Enables customers to onboard with Dryve services, make reservations, start rentals, report damage, and view their history.
Lendor Web App:
Allows vendors to onboard with Dryve services, view rental history, maintenance centers, and billing information.
Third-Party Integrations:
- Integrated the system with GPS tracking hardware, Cardknox for online payments, and HUF servers for communication.
Ongoing Support
Currently, our focus is on maintaining Lightpoint’s systems, scoping new features, developing enhancements, and supporting data-driven business decisions.
Results
We are currently in the beta phase, with 20 cars and 25+ drivers in the system. The plan is to launch the platform fully by Q3 2019. This is an ongoing engagement, where we will continue to work closely with the client to identify new features and implement them. Future plans include developing a platform that enables individual car owners to become vendors.
